si occupa di sviluppare diagnostiche ottiche per lo studio di sistemi fluidi complessi fuori dall\u2019equilibrio. Le attivit\u00e0 del Laboratorio variano dalla realizzazione di strumentazione ottica, in alcuni casi del tutto innovativa, allo studio dei processi di scattering di luce, di radiazione X di sincrotrone o da free electron laser, allo sviluppo di metodi di analisi dati.<\/p>\n<p>Alcuni degli ambiti di ricerca recentemente attivati sono lo studio di sistemi di nano particelle e delle interazioni tra esse e i fluidi che le circondano, dei processi di formazione di aggregati e di nano cristalli di proteine, la misura della dimensione dei grani di polvere in un disco proto planetario, le propriet\u00e0 ottiche di nano- e micro-particelle presenti nel ghiaccio antartico, che rappresenta una formidabile banca dati per la storia dell\u2019atmosfera terrestre.<\/p>\n<p>Queste attivit\u00e0 si svolgono in continua interazione con l\u2019Officina del Dipartimento, presso cui il Laboratorio di appoggia per la realizzazione di tutta la meccanica \u201ccustom\u201d necessaria per la strumentazione.
